Deefa, Honsu etc, how was it out there today? Looked good from shore. Did you get into any Ambo's?

From what I was told!
I personally wasn't on the charter but I had 2 of my customers and a staff member on that charter today and from what they tell me the charter was very disapointing and not what was promised ie jigging for sambo's/fishing the wrecks where they school up etc
The day ended up being a bottom bashin day which the clients had to bring their own bait for :(

Yeah....not entirely
Yeah....not entirely happy.....I dont want to bag them out but we werent expect what we were promised this time.......well half of it.
Long story short....BYO bait cos it primarily a jigging trip, thats fine by me. After a couple of hrs of no action, everyone was bottom bashing. Didnt even got near the sambo wrecks as promised so was really disappointing.
If I'd organised it I would gone straight out to jig and come in to bottom bash if we do get tired.

Honsu do you need to book
Honsu do you need to book jigging charters well in advance during the season?
I might be able to spend a couple of day's in Perth on my way up to Karratha in January, probably fri/sat 19/20th Jan, would be really keen to go on a jigging charter with the FW boys if anyone would be interested.
It's a fair way off, just thought I'd bring it up incase things like that need to be booked well in advance.

Shizz.....some fish were caught but a fair bit less than what we did last time. Standout was a good pinkie and 7.5kg queenie and also a grey banded cod. Other than that, not much else.....I got FA....
Weather was good after a rocky start....swell was down so that helped.
No probs Jay we'll keep you in mind when anything comes up. Yes you do need to book in advance. I'll try to book a "proper" jigging trip again soon.

Deefa did ok, :), got a nice queenie, using Honsu pre-rigged for bottom bouncing jigmaster/avet combo(nice outfit BTW honsu, made short work of the queenie, sorry i forgot it wasn't a level wind though.... my bad).
She was a bit choppy earlier on, wasn't too bad though, as Honsu mentioned, very little swell made it ok. Was a little green about the gills m'self earlier, but managed to hold it together. The deckie was impressive..... :0
Disappointed not to be put onto jiggable fishing areas, a few of us tried flogging barren ground for a few hours, until the inevitable tangles when jigging along baito's started happening. From about midday, i was a spectator.
Still, nice to fire up me new outfit, get a feel for it, so to speak, woulda been better to do it attached to a fish, but thems the breaks.
What was impressive,Honsu will agree, was the amount of "BLING" on board. I reckon we had all of the top shelf Daiwa jigging gear(as well as other brands) in Wa on board....... Jeeeez theres was some pretty gear there....

Shizz, the grey band was in the smaller size spectrum. caught in relatively shallow water for the species though i thought, we were in only about 85 m's at the time, not far off rotto. Maybe a couple of kg's at best.
The big queenie was impressive, a lot of people making the comment that it was the biggest they'd ever seen, me included.

well, I guess you guys have just stepped closer to my perception of "Blue Juice Jigging Charters" ever since Che and Joffa left, for good reason too (in my opinion). i might add that its inversely proportional with how desperate I am for jig though, so no hypocrisy here.

Flattie jigging
That flattie must have given you some stick on 50lb braid and a Saltiga. Good work getting that landed Deefa. (Hehehe)
5 out of 8 fish, mate you were on fire!!! (So the smearing of sun cream on the other guys jigs and bait worked a treat hey?)

It wasn't me Andy, another dude by the name of Troy(i think)
Litle old me only nabbed a queenie on Honsu's avet/jigmaster combo.... cos i couldn't be fingered rigging a bottom rig to use on my own gear. Actually, i was a little under prepared if the truth be known, it was s'posed to be a jigging trip after all, to that end, i didn't really bring a whole lot of bottom bouncing gear/tackle.

Good pics mate, ya camera works well, jeez that 2nd queenie was a bueaten weren't it... But as is often spoken about in fishing websies, the photo really does't do it justice....

In your oppinion would you consider using a spinning reel easier for jigging?
What's the max drag on those blue heavens? American made? I've heard the drag is not quite as smooth as the jap reels.. probably on fishwrecked somewhere..

Jay....jigging is just a style or type of fishing. You can use either spinning or overheads. I prefer spinning coz its easier to use personally.....ie less line lay worries and holding the reel up......
in saying that, Ive tried jigging with an overhead....not bad, just need more practice.....

"blue heavens? American
"blue heavens? American made" no way, not this detailed, made in Japan ;) (jk)
spin or overhead is up to the angler, and perhaps style.
shikari is synonymous with samson jigging over summer, well booked up in advance :P
as a further added random comment, I like to listen to classical music when jigging. blue danube and ride of the valkyries are nice =)
sometimes 'eye of the tiger' from 'rocky' is pretty nice to jig to too.
go rocky go!
