How'd we all go today?

Was a good day on the water once the easterly dropped, we picked up 2 x Dhuies 2 x Breaksea 1 x Pinky and Baldy so worth the effort of dodging the fires to get to our launch point. I did see a lot of big boats being hauled up to Two rocks way so I guess it was busy there?

Sea rescue
Glad you all had a great day out. I was in the Whitfords Sea rescue tower Sunday morning and it was hestic. I started at 6.45am and did not stop untill Pm shift arrived including 2 rescues.
Was interesting to note how many were going out deep (20nm+) in the morning whilst the wind was up. Ended up being a beautiful day on the water. Very jealous.
Hope to get out for an evening fish down Quinns Beach this week.

Decided when the wind dropped to
go for a quick crab for some Crab cocktails for a BBQ.
Got our target of 10 blues, miscounted and kept 11. Popped the flats from the boat inbetween the 2 strings for YFW but apart from a few follows no joy there. I think the boat cant go shallow enough, but spotted some thumpers with the fantastic visibility. Scoopers where out in force on the Pinny side flats, and from the cries and hoots obviously doing well. Back in by 11 just as the SW srarted to puff gently.
Its so easy when you can sit on the Veranda, see the Ramp and Estuary, decide looks good and out on the water 20minutes later.
Few Ales, crab cocktails and some nice steak finished a great day.

2 Dives in the 40's, not too many crays around, but had 4-5 Dhu's swim around us.
Viz was amazing, temps around 22 on the bottom.
Dragged a few bibs and skirts on the way home, but only nailed a Sambo (on a skirt!!) just behind 3 mile.

Hit the FADs
I decided the forecast looked too good not to try hit the FADs. We cruised out there at around 25knts and only saw another 3 boats in the area. The water out there was full of rat sized Longtail Tuna. We trolled around and caught 5 in half an hour, saw some Dollies, but they didn't compete with the tuna.
Gave a quick bottom bash a shot and got a 1.1m whiskery shark (the ones that look just like a gummy).
Nice day in all

Tough day
After we were finally bothered to get up and out early we hit the water at 5am this morning only to realise someone had forgotten the bait
Had to improvise and trolled up a tailor fairly quickly which we deduced was enough to start off with and headed out to 3 mile. On our way out we noticed smoke billowing from the cabin which turned out to be the cable for the radio antenna somehow short curcuiting and melting the plastic covering.
Finally got out, found a spot, deployed baits and waited. After not long we had lost more than a few good fish and it went dead so we decided to move spots and try for some whiting.
Turned the key, motor didn't even attempt to start. Engaged the second battery which did absolutely FA. What are the chances, both batteries dead?
Finally managed to pull-start the motor and move around a bit to charge batteries.
In the end we had to resort to pull-starting the motor for the rest of the morning until the very end where the batteries held enough charge. This is the first time that either of the batteries has been run flat and may have had something to do with the short circuit?
Finished up with a few whiting and snook, a couple skippy and some garfish. Very little to show for a lot of effort but that's fishing.
Also managed a couple touch-and-go blackarse which went back and two (very) undersized baldies
At least the conditions were nice and there's always next time I guess

Saw 2 dhu's one nice one in 12m of water.
then a little jigging in 35m, managed 2 nice BB's to 50cm and dropped a nice fish before coming in
