I'm excited!

Put the 50th birthday present on lay by ready for pick up September.

Went for a Simrad NSS7 Sport sounder / plotter combo, a 50/200 transducer and a Navionics Gold Card (Aus).

Can't wait to try it out come september.  Watch this space for screen shots of the first fish I find....  Most probably the whiting as we leave the Harbour!!!  Baha haha!

 Not enough room near

Wed, 2014-08-27 19:48

Not enough room near steering wheel? Hope it's not too much of a pain reaching across as I found with mine, lucky for me I only used double sided tape for the trial run the decided it had to go in front of me for ease of use. Looks like a solid unit with a good size screen let the fun begin

yeah I think it is too big for the helmsman's side. and this unit is so user friendly, its about time my deckies start to get familiar with these things!

I tend to stand a lot when

I tend to stand a lot when driving anyway and more often than not I find myself moving to the middle to balance for others moving from side to side....

 Looks the goods

Thu, 2014-08-28 11:15

Looks the goods Randall, stuff letting the deckies use it tho unless you use the same deckies all the time.

i think you would be better of with it in front of your wheel if it will fit, much easier to zoom in when approaching yor mark.

I run 2 seperate units with the sounder (Furuno 585) on the port side so all crew can see it whist on the drift and the gps (lowrance HD 5) in front of the wheel ,dont see any reason for the deckies to see it,it is much more user friendly in that spot ,you will find.

Tight Lines

Willo

p.s you will have to train your deckies to read the play re balancing the boat, i let newbies know this before we head out along with a general safety run down.
