I went to my local tackle shop to get bait on Tuesday. I use the 2 kg blue box's of squid but they didnt have any. They had 2 kg red box's, from Canada I think but not exactly sure, but had never seen them before. The baits looked smaller and darker than usual. I dont know if it is a different species as I am not a squid expert. Anyway went out wide yesterday from two rocks and could not even get a bite on it apart from a few tiny pickers. Was tthe quietest day I have had. Has anyone else used this squid and did you have the same result or was i just unlucky.

Never used that squid mate,
Never used that squid mate, but yesterday was very a very quiet day, only seemed like the pickers wanted to play, we went to around twenty spots for no result, then the last two spots produced some good fish, and we ended up with a decent bag out from mandurah. Some days are just like that you can see the fish on the sounder but for some reason they just won't eat. Frustrating to say the least

Was a tough morning, we had only landed one dhu and one pinky before 11 then it turned on. 15 dhus (one 18kg), 6 pinks, couple of baldies and a few sambos to keep us guessing in a 2hr hot bite. Was a magic day on the water. Mostly on placcys but when things were slow the cali squid (blue box) accounted for a couple of fish, have used the red box ones and they are not the same quality as the standard blue box.

Wow I beg to differ. Lunds
Wow I beg to differ. Lunds (blue box) have nice large squid on top layer...that's where it stops! The new red box are packed side on all the way through no small bent shit hiding underneath. I'm hoping this new one stays. As for you not catching join the rest of us. Hit water yesterday arvo for 1 kg and a black arse. All spots I hit hold dhuies, not even a kakka but that's fishing
