Info on hds 12 touch

Hey guys wondering if anyone had an hds10 and switched over to the new hds 12 touch im thinking about buying one wondering if its really worth spending the money on it
is there much difference between them cheers azza

But on all the touch series, they have built in the black box for structurescan into the head unit, so if you are thinking of running LSS2 S/scan its only an extra $300 for the Transducer as opposed to $645 for HDS10 because you would need the black box and transducer..
Extra screen space is nice, but also be aware on the 10 you can control the unit via your right hand using the buttons, on a 12" touch you can access less than 1/4 of screen with you hand from the same position on the right of the unit. This isnt a huge deal, I would say its pretty well 50/50 for the buttons vs touch screen debate. Some people think that with dirty/wet/bait hands button units are better than touch but it really is just personal preference.
Keep in mind the HDS Gen 2 Touch units were released around Oct 2012 and technology is always updating, if your timeframe is 'within the next 6 or so months' Simrad is rolling out the NSS Evo two series in screen sizes up to 16" with built in Structurescan and Chirp. Really strong unit with great features.

touch screen does have some
touch screen does have some advantages when working through menus but is a pain when in a pitching sea. Currently have the second firmware upgrade installed and now its very slow to refresh the screen, in hindsight I would probably not buy it again.
