Yes...
....for starters, floats must display your licence number. Also, fisheries must have a means to check your pots to make sure they are within specifications (overall size/shape of pot/escape gaps/SEDS/etc)...in a nutshell, not using ropes/floats is a no-no.

fair enough
was just asking wont do it, pity blokes have to go these extremes to stop pot pirates , more action required by fisheries I think ,they need to head out on days when it isn't glassed of to do some checks , but then if they do their JHA they probably arnt allowed out in any more than 15knots, unlike our friendly and always there volley sea search and rescue men and women who risk their lives in any conditions

Floats
Well there will be a couple of pots without floats shortly. Ocean reef lead line has 3 pots on it today, hope they don't hit a prop considering one set of floats were painted green which might aswell be camouflage. And people wonder why they lose pots

And it is also just as
And it is also just as illegal to pull other's pots!! Not just stealing... its also an offence under the fishing regs... so in the perfect world one could obey the law and have pot floats identifying the rightful owner, without some theiving half wit stealing your pots....

Sad state of affairs. Same
Sad state of affairs. Same goes for occy traps, i.e the old piece of tube with one end blocked. Technically it's illegal to dive on them, as far as i understand it.

Pirate paranoia
Would be good if fisheries good do a bit off a crack down. Would make everyone a bit more friendly out on the water. had some Ahole start having a go at me yesterday as he somehow had decided that I might have more than two pots set, when I was simply trying to set my anchor to have a fish. Then when the people who's pots I was fishing near rocked up to pull their pots their was no wave hello just dirty looks! I'm pretty sure my pots have been pulled by pirates a couple of times in the last few weeks but you gota keep your cool it's pretty fcked up to go round abusing people who are just out on the water doing their own thing.

Dont know if I can be bothered.
Would be a quick 30min dash through the Cut to drop some pots. 2 licences (instead off buying individual ones the boss and I just get the whole set). But with all this pot stealing/pirating and associated grump just dont know if its worth it.
