Jurien with Seasport Charters 8/4

Hey all,

Headed up to jurien with some customers for another trip out with whitey and was not dissapointed.

The day started at 5.30am so that we could get the sunrise bite and first stop was to pick up some livebait to target some big mullas and pinks that whitey had been getting at one of the wrecks.I decided to leave the jigs alone and drop a few livies as well in the hope of picking up a mulla.first drop resulted in instant action with drags screaming everywhere.a few good sambos and pinks were hitting the livies. One of my lucky customers(Rod) picked up this Cracker old man snapper.

the next hour or so resulted in more good pinks and sambos  and a few unstoppables that ripped us through the wreck.

We then headed out to some more ground to look for some dhu's.Livebaits were proving the most effective method drifted down lightly weighted. This dhu came up spewing up three livies that he stolen previously.I persisted with the jigs but can only assume they didnt look too appetizing next to a smorgasboard of tethered livebaits.Although i did get bricked on pe2 on my favorite plastic by a suspected dhu.

Greg was the lucky angler

Just to make us all look bad greg bagged another one shorly after on the driftbaited livey

this stripey tuna was one of only a few interested in the jig on the day

after lunch the bottom action quieted off so we set off to target some pelagics at one of whiteys secret spots. As soon as we saw some birds working we cruized past and the halco 190 got smashed  and for the next 45minutes i watched 3 mackies lost through bust offs and broken snap swivels.I figured the next run it was my turn and thought id show the boys how it was done.Or so i thought..Hooked up and the  20kg+mackie headed towards us for a brief viewing before seeing the boat burning towards the horizon. The next 25 minutes ensued with line lost and won.I was soon becoming suspicious about the stamina of this fish on the pe3 outfit and after a while guessed that he had wrapped me round a bommie. We tried to reposition the boat for about 10minutes to get him off but it proved futile and the braid eventually pinged ruining the dream fro a while longer.

Hooked up to the mack

After that Whitey was adamant we would get the bastard but with a bunch of satisfied and tired customers i told Whitey we would call it a day and head back.

Another Epic trip to jurien

cheers

Chris

It measured only 86cm but was one of those deep and thick fish.

Sweet tigh, sounds good mate.

the pinkie could easily pass as a east coast snapper with a head like that.
What livies were you using?
