Just got back from Exmouth
Gday Fellas, just got back from a few weeks in Exmouth and I just gotta say..... bloody sharks and weatherman. Hooking into good fish but just didn't have a chance, moved heaps but was no getting away from them. I wasn't really to keen to donating all my sinkers, hooks, jigs for no reward so we did spend a fair bit of time trolling for billies.
We managed to go 18,17,8 on marlin with no sailfish in the mix for the trip although we did have a free jumper nearly jump into the boat(was a very weird moment), 1 of the days being an arvo session going 11,10,4 with most being in the 30-40kg range. We did manage some a little bigger around the 60kg mark.
We spent 1 day trolling out from the islands and we managed to hook into an est 150kg black which is by far the biggest fish I have seen personally and it got the ticker racing when we seen it smashed the long rigger with white water going everywhere but it dropped the pink n white Oscar, about 20 seconds go past and it comes back up smashes the shotgun, the bite was insane, we had him on for a good 10 mins on 15kg but dropped the hooks, spewing.
The Last week of the trip was very quiet on the billies, some of the local charter operators reckon it might have something do with the orcas in the area.
