Just returned from Carnarvon

Just returned from a short trip to Carnarvon and couldn't believe the Pinkie action up that way. I travelled out about 16 nat miles west on Monday with three other guys, bagged out with 3 to 4 kilo pinks in 20 mins and got back to the ramp mid morning. The big blow made fishing impossible for the rest of the week.

Hopefully I'll get back that way when the weather settles.

regards Rob

Yep fished there, go outside the marina along the airport runway, look for dozer tracks of the rockwall (running into the water) not far up bout halfway its where they pushed all the earthmoving gear they made the airport with in the water , anchore about 100m off the rock wall running ball sinker rig coral trout emperor use fresh bait for bigger fish chuck out a floater aswell mate fish running and slack tide.

Have a good one

Yeah we are talking about Carnarvon here!

Yes it is  great up here!  Staying out at Pelican Point Retreat, what a top spot to stay. Boat is in the drink about 10 metres from the chalet. Recommend it for the fisho's as it is a very convenient place to fish out of. Management at the Retreat are great and are very helpful with any problems! Outstanding place to fish from........ So good  I will be staying there for several months!!

Nev ,you have a shot of the old trawler as your avatar, wouldn't you just love to tow it out and sink it.Then you would have your own artificial reef.

The original plan was to strip it out and sink it for that purpose but environment dept knocked it back because they couldn't guarantee it would remain in one spot in the event of a cyclone. It is still floating and all it needs is a tow and the valves opened to sink her

Certainly would do the perfect job John, surely be an easy way to pin her to the bottom. Took the kids up there a couple of weeks ago for a bit of a arfternoon cruise. Have to catch up for a Beer and a Yarn sometime mate..............

I agree with Nev, Pelican Point is a top place to camp and fish out of, you only need to launch and retrieve once for the entire stay. Management were very good and all of my crew had a great time.Hopefully we'll be back once the weather settles.
