Storm Surge
Thankfully, all reports suggest no one in Kalbarri was injured.
That storm surge in the last photo with Kalbarri Beach Resort and Anchorage tells a story.
We had all six units in the Budget Riverside Apartments (the blue ones) booked for the whole of the school holidays. I am pretty happy we all legged it on Sunday morning when they revised the tracking map.

Certainly made a mess of things. Unlike the north west I don't think they are equipped for such weather.

Going up on weekend maybe
Have ( possibly had) a house in town 3 streets back from IGA near servo / hardware store . See what's left of it if I can't hear beforehand . Also seeing if mates farm and sheds still standing between Binnu and Lucky Bay.
Been sent photos of Wagoe, hit hard and won't be open for a long time like rest of town.
Most important thing is no one was hurt or worse.

Be lucky to even have electricity by then.
Still none at home in Gero, and not even an estimation of when and Kalbarri is right at the end of the grid line

Devastating, for a small
Devastating, for a small town that could've possibly had the best tourist season ever to cop this is like giving with one hand and taking double with the other. I wish all the best for the town and community for a quick recovery. I will still be visiting at any opportunity, will just have my tools packed to help in any way i can.

Friends of friends are
Friends of friends are farmers in Northampton. House is pretty okay but sheds are all gone, fences flattened, fertilizer for crop that was to be sown next week is buggered. Tough times for a lot of people.

Looking on horrocks fb page
Looking on horrocks fb page they got off light compared to Northampton. Low level landing on the jetty copped some damage but most of the shacks and houses are fairly undamaged.

If seems like a lot of people underestimated
The effects of Seroja here in Geraldton after the event.
Long queues at the few servos that have been open, people queuing at ATM's for cash, running out of food cause of the power being out and cleaning out the supermarkets as they have opened up for business etc.
Some lowlife's getting around town doing break-ins too.
Hopefully Western Power will be getting power supply back from tomorrow.
Gotta feel for Kalbarri locals etc, who copped the worst of it.

I was due to stay in Kalbrri
I was due to stay in Kalbrri with the family in 7 weeks. We pulled the pin on that idea last night and switched to Denham. I'm guessing lots of tourism dollars will be lost in the coming months.

We'll be arrive 4 June but
We'll be arrive 4 June but got an email from the real estate company yesterday saying the owner is asking if we can find alternate accommodation as he's picked up work repairing fences in the area and the only alternative they could offer up was a dogbox shack and there's nothing else left in town. Under the Terms and Conditions he can give us the boot which will be devastating especially for my oldest boy who's been researching the area. I don't want to hold up repairs in the area and I've told them if he wants to stay in the cheaper/smaller place, I have no probs with him parking his trailer on the property and accessing the shed/garage while we're there so see what happens....
