Hi Guys
Just after a bit of advice and or direction I am heading to Karratha/dampier area to work on East intercourse island mid october for a few weeks. Around 12 hr days i was hoping to wet a line land based, i have a work vehicle i can use. I am thinking of taking my 8' ugly stick with a couple of reels in the 30 - 50 lb range and cast around a few poppers and metals. I dunno if i can fish off that island have to check it out when i get there. the accom is at some kangaroo place. Is the land based fishing worthwhile around this area or is it more of an offshore place.
cheers Rig

Kangaroo Point camp in
Kangaroo Point camp in Dampier, nice camp , good food. They wont let you fish off the island because of OH&S issues. You will be just down the road from the Burrup. There are tracks all over the place but I suggest a reasonable 4WD if you go out past the gas plant. Further afield is Cleaverville Creek about 20km short of Roebourne, Popes Nose near Wickham or the creeks around Point Samson fish well at times. Try Google Earth and have a look around that way.
