Katipo plastic cray pots

Hey has anyone used the katipo plastic cray pots that Oceanside have advertised in their latest thread? Wondering if the shape of them would help make them more stable on the bottom than the older style plastic pots?

They definately look the goods as far as plackie pots go.. They wont rock as much on the bottom so you wont need as much balist and hopefully the will be good off my kayak for a laugh..

Im also intestest to here if people have any reports.

Plastic

Yeah I am thinking about using a couple myself for trips north.  Most of the 3/4 size wood pots only have one bait box these plastic ones have 2 so they will put out more scent.  I am keen to get down and have a look as many of the timber 3/4 ones look poorly made and flimsy

do you think wrapping some mesh or shade cloth around them would make them more appealing to the crays?

Not sure about the mesh iv heard people do that to the other shape placky ones but also head dragging behind a car to rough them up works, maybe a bit of sand paper to rough the surface up would be less likely to damage them. Think I might get one and try it against one of my old plastic ones.

I'm in the market for 4 new

I'm in the market for 4 new pots and these Katipo pots have caught my eye. I'd be keen to know if they are strong (will they last) and if the crays will hop inside them? Oceanside have them for $195 fully rigged (30m rope, 14kg ballast, 8" float). Has anyone has success with them or is Jarrah slatties still the way to go?
