kayaking shark baits

Hey everyone im just looking for a bit of info on kayakin big baits out, ive got a bunch of big salmon heads and im trying to decide how to rig them. So far im going with a 22/0 circle bridle rigged through the eyes. This has worked for me when ballooning but im wondering how this will go on the bottom. Can anyone share some experiences doing this, eg: was a sinker needed or the weight of the head was enough to anchor it. Also trying to decide the best size bait for this, just big enough to avoid large rays would be perfect but I know there is some enormous black rays that wouldn't have trouble eating a large salmon head so I'll just have to deal with them

Thanks Luke

Cable ties

there is a land based shark dude on the web from Victoria, or at least there was.

he has all sorts of great ideas, and covers bait in heavy detail.

hooks need to be fully exposed, so that means they go under cable ties which go through and around the bait.

are you planning to fight the shark from the kayak. If just using the kayak to get baits out use a non return slide bait clip.

saves time as you only have to take out a sinker and drop it over . Then your bait will Cover heaps more ground and it will reduce Ray problems as it will be off the bottom until it makes its way all the way to your sinker. Super effective technique, even with balloons. Ozflex did do them but Ron is retired now so Gillies or Richter may still sell them.

Use a salmon head and hook it once through bottom lip. Everyone might laugh but try it. Also black rays love salmon

south metro from the beaches, just using the kayak to drop baits. I think I have a few slide bait clips somewhere, I will give them a try.
