They will hang around the inshore reefs mate so you'll have a very good chance. But I'll don't know the fishing around there too much but the last time I went there for a bike ride I saw alot of kids fishing the concrete jetty where the Ferry arrives and departs.

Maybe you should check out the fishing department website just incase.

Cheers lads,

Seen some reports of some good skippy of the west end.

I'd take all three and mix it up. See what's getting hit!

grab a fishing brochor from

Mon, 2008-07-07 09:26

grab a fishing brochure from the office on the island and go explore, we found an awsome spot round in armstrong bay that produced snapper, blackass, skippy, king george, and heaps more but unfortantually that spot is now protected, but if you've got a bike ride round with your gear and you'll find plenty of good spots, we found squid to be the best bait for the inshore reefs when we were chasing a feed and mulies when we wanted to have a bit of fun, chasing salmon and tailor.
also i would'nt bother going off any of the main jetties unless you want to catch squid and you have to be there late arvo into night, the kingston jetty is probibly the best for squid and i've also caught the odd tailor off there.

be carfull because alot of the island is protected so no matter how good it looks i wouldnt risk it, cause the fines are huge

hope this helps

Went down a few years ago, there is a place called the natural jetty (or what i could remember of it) which fished well for herring and tailor.

It's at the back of Kingston Barracks and a fair walk to the right along the beach you will see (on low tide) a reef+sand jetty kind of thing angling out into the ocean, but be careful on high tide it gets quite wild, it is also quite good along that beach to the left, definately think its worth a try and good luck!!

Here's a shot
