weedy ground

mate seeing no one will help, even tho im in kalbarri its not too hard. first up you in a boat or LB? if in a boat just look for sand holes with weedy ground around it and you should do ok. use prawn or squid strips or even red meat cut into small cubes. If your landbased well same really just look for a little bit of swell, whiting love the stir up of the waves to mooch on the worms that get uncovered and the little crabs that are round. trial and error mate but in general whiting can be found at most beaches. Coming into summer time the YFW are breeding so you should have no problem in finding them. hope this helps

G'day Mate, as you are metro

G'day Mate, as you are metro NOR you just need to try a few of the beaches, Floreat, Pinaroo Point, or rock walls off the local marina's, etc. Try a paternoster rig with size 8 long shank hooks with a red bead on the leader. My favourite bait is squid as it stays on the hook well. If you can then burley up a bit to help get them fired up. I have started fishing the beaches up past two rocks and that was firing for whiting the other day.
Good luck, let us know how you get on

thanks for the info. Might seem like a dumb question but im not sure, how do you berly the water at the beach? What kind of technique am I supposed to use?

Also, the red bead trick, I've heard about this but not sure about placement of the bead. Is it supposed to go right above the hook? So its actually touching the eye of the hook?

Just slip the red bead on

Just slip the red bead on trace then tie on the hook, it will sit above the hook,

Good luck champ, good feed of whiting is awesome

As for burley in beach I use

Tue, 2013-11-19 17:45

As for burley in beach I use a burley pot and load that up and leave tied to rod holder to wash around, but chook pellets with some fish oil will work nicely mate just toss a handful out every so often and a slosh of oil or even better mix the two before hand and pellets will soak the oil up
