Learmonth Salmon

For all the non believers, son Jeff, has taken his love of catching salmon to a new high with one caught off the Learmonth Jetty. He had lost a few in recent weeks and has now got one to show off with.
The furthest north I had heard them caught before was an odd one in Geraldton many years ago but never one past there.

Soon we won't have to travel to get good quality fish.

It looks like the conditions for catching salmon up there are on a comparison with those down south of the rocks at the moment.

Chasing them
Jeff said he had been chasing them there for about 3 weeks before he actually landed one so must have been a few mates with it in the school.
The furthest north I had heard of them caught before was around Geraldton so they would have had to put the foot down to get that far north unless it was a metro area school that has headed north from there unlike the others coming from the south coast

Rare indeed and the cynic in me wondered if someone is having a laugh and transporting a frozen salmon to Learmonth for a photo op and wind up??? Not sure why a dead fish would still have the hook in place and be connected to a rod... If it is for real, then apologies and I'm at a loss to be honest. Too far north, habitat all wrong and water too warm to make any sense at all to me.

Vicky, Jeff's wife has put the video of him catching it on the beach right next to the Learmonth jetty, once he has it in his hand she pans the camera round to show the jetty with their car parked.
Don't know how to add it to the site but perhaps someone who is more cued in than me can grab it and put it on
