Leeman land based report
Just come back from a week in Leeman. Boy oh boy you should see the weed piled up either side of the Town and Sea Rescue ramps. Couldn't go fishing either south or north of Leeman weed everywhere on the beaches, water close in shore filthy brown STILL.
Boat wise, think the fisherman in their boats had a excellent 6 days of fishing, the ocean was a mill pond and as we were eaving looked so inviiting. Went to Jurien on 26th May about 20 boats out there. Leeman every day about 6 boats out, didn't hear what any of them caught. Big gentle swell running, Just wish we had brought the boat, perfect fishing conditions for 6 days gggrrrrr Always the way hahaha
Saw quite a few boats heading north on the Indian Ocean drive, hope they get to go fishing as heard on the radio we are going to have 5 days of rain, expecting 50mm of the good stuff.

Timely
Thanks for the update Roberta...very timely as I was planning on spending a night up at Desperate Bay next weekend. Even with the yak it might me worth staying a touch closer to home, unless the gods are kind and I get to head up to Horrocks.
Do you think the rain will have any impact on the beach conditions up there?

Bushy it appears
there is that much weed waiting to come in, the diver birds were having trouble getting fish haahah Didn't see any of the regular Sea Eagles either, think they've all gone looking for food.
Found out from talking to a nice local at Green Head, that when the water was warm with the weed, either side of the jetty there the beaches were full of crayfish and fish dieing, she said it stunk to high heaven, the beach to the right of the jetty at Green head didn't look to bad and looking from Pt Liouse down to the bay at GH was the cleanest of all the beaches.
Plenty of squid getting caught on the jetty right next to Fisheries at Jurien, the concrete jetty was full of black squid ink hahah Old fart was talking to a couple of old locals fishing there, plenty of annoying fish they were catching.
Didn't go to Desperate Bay, but if the sea is calm think if you paddle out near the green marker it might be cleaner and near the reefs, the surge was pretty big due to the big swells further out, you could see them rolling on the hortizon.
The rain is coming from the nor west so think more weed will be on the beaches, as its so brown the water, just waiting for a good blow and it will be up on the beaches again..
Jurien, the beach near sea rescue looked clean and water also.
Hows the baby Bushy, fighting fit?
