ligh tackle lure karratha, dampier & burrup area

hi fishos, just a quick question I have a rest day coming up on my next swing & was wondering if there are any good shore based spots around Karratha, dampier or burrup to throw a few lures?? I always look into whittnel bay from site & wonder if it is worth a walk along the shore in there? also the private boat ramp in dampier has a nice rock wall near it & small beach if that is worth a shot?? I know most locals go offshore but if anyone has some advice would be much appreciated! happy fishing all

Shore based is semi hard work
Been away for about 4 months now after spending 6odd years up there. First 2 was boat less, and tried numerous spots. Withnell with a lure has been a huge disappointment for me. The private jetty is hammered with bait fisherman. The old marina near the East Intercourse Island entry is worth a bash but it is hard going.
The best spot IMO is probably the causeway at Point sampson, but only on an outgoing tide. It is Very rocky so no diving lures. Poppers, stickbait (non sinking) and plastics with no/low weights. Snapback in white STILL the best there despite advances in plastic technology.
There is also a few headlands with rocky outcrops that are worth a cast on high tide (only).
Had some luck in flats with big YFwhiting on small lures and even a couple on fly with chartreuse crazy charlies, even close in at Hearson's worked for them.
My overall shore based rating for Karratha would be much much lower than metro shore based.

If you go into Point Samson
If you go into Point Samson and head to honeymoon bay, I had a bit of luck there early on in the year when I was up that way. we used to walk out to the rock point where the navigational marker is and cast around that. out going tide produced the best results, school mackys, all kinds of trevally, got one little GT that went around the 45cm which went like a train on light gear and small queenys. was a lot fun all fish went back in to fight another day. I was using just silver twisty lures on light gear.
Hope you have some luck

Aaron is correct
But even there it can be hit and miss. Another spot is to go to the old hatchery, turnoff Left just after the causeway going into sampson. Drive to the end (watch the sand if or even with 4x4). Walk out to where the creek meets the ocean and flick some lures there.
Have a chance off Trevors and Queenies.
PS: As for Brucesta below ignore his advise!!!! He only ever stirr us on here with pictures off his boat full of pretty girls

Cowrie cove
On the burrup gets doggie mackerel and queenies around high tide, you park and walk to a rock platform.
