My money is on it being an Orca
Where is lights beach, I'd like to know so that I can put it in my memory never to go swimming there.
Did anyone notice if there where any seals on the beach.

I havent googled it yet but i think white pointer fins fold over sometimes.
(edit; from the extensive research ive done it seems they dont get collapsed fins)
Doesnt look as mean as a whites tail and the scale size to people says bigger than a white. imo
Shame it wasnt on an expensive camera cause thats a top pic!

Big male orca
I've seen them in the flesh, definately not a white shark. I'd rather be in the water with an orca than a great white, anyday. I don't think has ever been an attack documented on humans by an orca. Awesome creatures.

Many years ago
I heard from a guy i know that many years ago when he was a youg boy at the Abrolhos Islands, his parents left him and i belive his sister on a shallow sand bar while fishing nearby, when a couple of Orca's came by circling the small Sandbar then tring to wash them off. Luckerly the parents saw what was happening just in time or may have been a different story.

White Phantom
Lights beach at Denmark...I stood and watched this small pod of Sthn Right Whales swim past these surfers. There were more further out. The small right is a sucker too...there were some macking lefts coming through where the two blokes were sitting.

Is there something else in
Is there something else in the photo, just towards the centre of the photo, on the same wave crest?

photo shop
IMO don't think the photo is legit , the size of the rocks compared to the size of the fin and the surfers doesn't add up in my book.

Fin does look about 4 metres tall,
If they are surfers lying on their boards on the left of photo. or are they dirty craypot floats? Pic isn't exactly hi-def

Orcas are common as dolphins
Orcas are common as dolphins around NZ, and there has never been anything like an attack that I have heard of.
Not sure what that is but doesnt look like a shark to me?
Give a man a mask, and he'll show you his true face...
The older you get the more you realize that no one has a f++king clue what they're doing.
Everyone's just winging it.
