lots of whiting around the river at the moment.

so after catching a whiting yesterday while going for flatties I decided to go back today with the gekkabijin vibe and target a few whiting. first cast resulted in a 25ish cm whiting and within an hour I had landed 7 or 8 whiting all between 20-30cm. I also hooked but didn't land a flattie about 30ish cm. last pic is of yesterdays flattie.

 Nice one

Last year i went for a snorkel out from the Bicton Baths and saw some big whiting

One was so big it made me wonder if King Georges wander in there occasionally

Unfortunately the schools of blowies and trumpeters outweighed any decent chance with bait to get them and I didn't think the families would appreciate some big shaved head bastard with a gidgee getting in the water with their kids about

I do remember something about no spearguns, but it's probably worded as spearfishing which would incorporate gidgees too

Caught a few small ones too. It was without a doubt my PB, sick as a chip.

its just a vibe a bit like the TT blades. whiting can't get enough of them. small TT ghost blades, river2sea baby vibe and the gekkis all work well in the deep channels.

the gekkis aren't that light

Mon, 2013-10-28 07:10

the gekkis aren't that light about 7g I think but I usualy just use my trout gear for whiting. 1000 daiwa luvius with 4lb braid and 4lb leader and 1-3kg dropshot rod. this time I wanted to cast a bit further so I was using daiwa sol 2500 with a 7ft6 2-4kg rod, cast light lures a mile with that thing.
