Loving it

Headed out early to 3 mile Sunday morning hoping to get a few hours in before the wind picked up. Was slow going for a long period with only wrasse and a baby eagle ray being caught. With an empty esky we decided to pull anchor and move. Sounded around for a while and came across what we thought was a decent spot. Turned out to be the difference with my first drop hooking into a 60cm coral trout and a 42cm skippy. I lost the skippy near the surface but i wasn't worried as it was the perfect way to break in my new 2-4kg nexave. the next 2 hours were non stop with plagues of skippy and blackass smashing everything we threw at them. With the wind changing direction and having enough of a feed we decided to call it a day

Great work, I've only ever
Great work, I've only ever seen one harlequin caught by my mate years ago, thought it was a coral trout too. Not too sure if other members regularly get them on line? Should put one of those skippys out on a 9/0 on a balloon, more often than not you'll ended getting a massive sambo.

Look.at the bloody choppas on that! Skippy go good on the light gear aye, love shaved skip as sashimi, ate 2 whole fish that way in one sitting lol, +1 for the sambo bait too. You may do well at the second spot for the odd keeper dhu and pinks when the sun's not out, hope you marked it. Nice work

i had a live wrasse under a balloon for the whole time and didn't get a sniff. we ran out of bait so we cut up a skippy and had the head with a circle floating around unweighted for nothing. managed a hammerhead last xmas with a skippy head.

I just loop my leader and tie
I just loop my leader and tie the balloon around the loop, let the wind take it out back, decent livies like skippy will just swim around tho, usually up to the front near the anchor rope lol. When you hook up, the loop pulls, freeing the balloon from the line.

I like about 2 to 3m under
I like about 2 to 3m under the balloon. If you get sambos hitn your skippy on the way up, just put a hook in ones back and send it down, wont have to wait long, might need to put a float on your anchor rope so you can ditch it when you hook up. Skippy are meant to be good for maccies, shiny and reflective too. Im guna start freezin some for this summer, guna do a bit of beach campin so might send a few out. Would be good to hear what fish people have caught on them
