Lowrance Gps module

Hi I have a lowrance global map 5000c, it comes up with a error message when started that the gps module is not responding. has anyone else had this problem? and is there some one in Hedland that has a lgc-12 gps module that I could try and hook up to see if that is the problem.

Cheers

Jimmy

Jimmy, I have a Lowrance LCX 111 unit that did exactly the same thing, I decided rather than messing about, to buy a complete new HDS unit. I did speak to Navico in the eastern states in regards to this problem and they were more than convinced that it was a module issue rather than a problem with the head unit in itself. I have just purchased a new module for that unit and I'm expecting it to arrive in the next two days, I will let you know how I get on. From what I can gather, the module is generally the cause of most failures.

I did an update on mine (see the  website), that fixed it for 12 months then it started doing it again. Looked on the troubleshooting section of their website and went through all the steps and found the power through one of the cables wasn't as it was supposed to be. Changed that cable and that fixed it.

Had the same problem about a year ago. First make sure your leads and connections are OK. If they are, then its your module. Modules aren't cheap in Australia, better off looking on e-bay. I managed to pick one up second hand for around $150.
