Sounds pretty dodgy Andy. The guy said he watched for 20 minutes before dropping the anchor. If it was such a safe spot then I don't understand how he had so much trouble getting out from under the capsized dinghy. Sadly the dog that was eventually rescued was put down this morning.

We did the same surfing at
We did the same surfing at Alkimos as teenagers. Knew nothing but certainly learnt that day that it pays to be cautious. We didn't flip but it was close. Good life lesson.
