Mandurah Crabs - Scooping

We'd usually have a fair amount of success scooping off Herron.

Got a 18 month old now and planning to bring him along for some scooping action.  My preference is not to go too deep this time round.

After some advice really for anywhere not above knee level.  Would be great if most weren't undersized.

Havent seen to many of Dawesville/Bouvard

shallow. Walking around popping for whiting haven't seen to many blues. But this is in the daylight hours.
Problems lately with arvo scoops is the seabreeze whips in and ripples up the water making it harder to spot them. Night time with a spotty/torch/head lamp is better, but not realy the thing I would do with an 18 month old.

$500 fine then $3050 each for the value of the crabs. Still pretty light imo

If you are just scooping

from land you don't need a licence. But if you use a boat to get to a spot to scoop you do need one

Licence

as I understand the rules , if a boat is used in any way to facilitate the fishing activity you need to pay the tax

I think a licence to crab

I think a licence to crab would be a good idea - from land or water. Get some money in for research and a sustainable fishery.
