matt vs matt

went out on mills friday night for a night bash and the "name " rivalry was there between matt (mako magic) and matt (hlokk) was a alright night with pinks caught by most to about 7 kg and 1 dhuie and heaps of red snapper. at the end of the night matt(hlokk) won the name rivalry with matt (mako magik)4 to 1 .. a convincing win well done hlokk

no daylight fishing all was after dark, there would have been around 25 pinks at most caught, not alot considering, and funny enough none were undersize

I caught 3 pinkies and one

Mon, 2008-08-18 15:17

I caught 3 pinkies and one small yelloweye snapper (looked like a red to me?), so i'm counting that as 3 :p. Two larger ones were a bit under 3kg, though the first one was the longest i've caught by about 3cm, but didnt beat the weight of the previous one. Also hooked up on the first drop almost straight away Laughing

The dhuie was giving a good fight to the guy who caught it at the back corner of the boat. The T-bar scales they had onboard said 7kg, so pretty decent sized catch. (i'd say from the scales that it could have been between 6 and 7 though).

We left at sunset, so the reds/yelloweye were all after dark.

I'm going to attribute my catch over Matts to him being in the middle of the braid guys (I was inbetween the braid guys and the monos, if you think about the pattern on the seafloor it makes sense considering the drift angles ;) ), using extra-sharp new owner hooks, and mostly luck luck luck. We all know its nothing to do with skill or matt woulda won hands down, lol.

I'll get some pics up tonight when I get home.

Mon, 2008-08-18 17:05

How many did you get brenz???? hahaha your better half was going harder than you!!!! They are yellow eye snapper havnt seen them get much bigger apart from from out in 300m, definatly different from a red snapper. Had a good nite apart from brenz making me wind in his rod every drop!! Sorry about the lack of fish boys but thats not the deckys fault now is it????

Regular or new, they all

Mon, 2008-08-18 23:01

Regular or new, they all deserve to be looked after when paying the same $$$ or less for regulars paying cash, and hogging the back corner sucks.

Everyone deserves a chance in the best spot on the boat, especially when they are getting charged more than the regulars, I know how it works.

As for charters I will not recomend, pm me for details, two I would avoid at any cost!!!
