Maximum easterlies you go out wide?

Just wondering what strength winds you guys tend to go out in? For SW'ers, i'm guessing anything above 15kt is a bit too windy, but does the same thing apply with easterlies? From the shore it doesnt look like theres as much chop. Does it still get just as choppy far out regardless of direction, or is the wind strength and hence drift going to be the limiting factor? For SW'ers I can get a rough idea from the shore, but for easterlies its a little harder not having my own boat (......yet)

We'll assume theres not much swell, unlike the FW northern leg comp, lol.

Easterlies

Tend to flatten out the swell and look calm from shore but past the three mile it can get very rough.
If you think about an easterlie all day, its quite easy to get out there but it makes for a very slow and potentially dangerous trip back in.
I will head out in a moderate easterly (up to 18knots) as long as I know it will ease and shift SW during the day. If its above 15knots Easterly all day, forget it.
Bigger boats might have a better time but not in my little tub.

good thing about the 3 mile ,you can easily swap sides,in or out and get some protection,Iv'e had some good days on the outside waiting for the Easterly to drop before heading out
