Mercury Revcounter not resetting to 0?

Hi guys,
My boats electrics are now done and she is almost ready to go into the water for Setup and testing.
Quick Question - do all Mercury rev counters stay at about 1000 RPM when the boat is turned off, as mine seems to stay at the last reading, but resets when the key is toggled on and off again? is this normal?

My Suzuki does the same
My Suzuki does the same thing. Seems to work fine when out on the water so wasn't worried about it.

My mercruiser does the same
all Mercury gauges do the same - they don't reset to zero when the power is off
