Metro KG

Been looking for these guys in metro waters for a little while now,

Managed to get one yesterday in 36m of water. Have caught quite a few KG's before but none matched up to the plump size of this big boy.

He went 58cm!!!

Tried for soem more, but could not seem to find anymore.

Should follow Ryan's advice

Wed, 2009-08-05 12:15

I have been exploring new territory using the rig Ryan suggested and baited identically, have had heaps of success with our best 65cm, got trwo more yesterday both over 60cm on a day where we really struggled to get a drift due to lack of wind - drift appears the key as the KGW's seem to chase and snaffle the moving bait far more readily. The bonus is that the said same rig has accounted for a pb pinkie and 8 dhuies all size up to 12kg over ground you would never normally target dhuies on.

Suggest you catch up with him and buy the mag for the article - particularly with the dimersal closure fast approaching as it will at least allow you to target another species.

yeah did speak with ryan about it a little while ago.

ave been using some of his techniques (Bait, and rigs sometimes) and depths to look at. Probably struggling to find the right ground more than anything, however wher ei got this fella gave me a little insight as to what the ground looks llike that i should be on.

Cheers

We have found hard bottom with some weed present offers the best opportunities, little lumps and coral even better when combined with a little weed.

nice kg , got to love the fighting capabilities of them, we have got a few good ones out on the 30 mtr mark out from point peron somewhere, our biggest weighed so far is 1.225kg , we have landed a couple bigger but they are slippery buggers when you cant get your hand around them and they like the water so much. now you have your first big kidney slapper you wont have too much trouble getting more
