Metro Mackie

G'day
Been dreaming of this fish for the last couple of years. Been doing pretty well on the small to mid sized Tuna this summer. Thought we would put in a solid effort specifically chasing a Metro Mackie this morning, and it paid off! My first Metro Mackie, and hopefully a few more to come in the coming weeks.

Uncle- lived up to all expectations, was that pumped after I caught it that when I was making an ice slurry for it with the deck wash I accidentally sprayed my mate in the face with the deck wash not thinking!
Mackie fell for a Rapala X-Wrap deep diver.

Nice metro Mack and good picture as well.
Interesting to hear crew that are getting them tend to not run wire, even single strand.
Obviously works, yet to score one myself metro, but always run single strand.

I was trying to get one
I was trying to get one today and did a hell of a lot of miles .... a couple of bumps but no takers !!
I also run wire so maybe that has something to do with it.
Trolled along the 5 fathom for the length of Garden, then headed west to the 40s then out to the back of Rotto where I thought a fad would be but wasn't there. Came across a couple of "Wave monitoring buoys" and circled them a couple of times (figured they would be doing a similar job as a fad) and after 120km trolling .....Nothing !!
Will try again soon.
Well done on your catch and as you have proved .....patience pays off sooner or later

I guess it would be classed as a shallow one and the mark is probably a bit old now but thought they put them in the same areas each time.
Only just starting to get out to the FADs myself and this would make it only my second attempt....so still learning !!
