Metro Manta Ray

Trolling the bait schools yesterday, south of Rotto. We were in about 37m running along a current-line,spotted something in the water and slowly motored towards it,was really surprised to see it was a small Manta Ray. First time I have seen one in Metro waters. A one stage it was right next to the boat and then just dived under the boat, was only about 5 foot across, but no mistaking it was a Manta. Will try and post a few pics off a mates camera...

Bait
Milsey we trolled this current line for nearly 2 hours, big bait schools busting all along it. Tried deep divers, shallow divers suface lures but could not raise a fish. But was great to see this ray just cruising around.

nice Rick
They look awsome rick and no mistaking them compared to ray's. I saw one 3 weeks ago 8km out from mindarie.
They can be a bit of a worry sometimes, they are prone to spook and jump without warning.
I had one jump very close to my boat because it swam into my line.
