Mindarie bash!

Headed out with Mark (keg) last night, hoping to get some nice pinks. Unfortunately, the third member (Hutch) of our usual team had exams and couldn't make it..

When we launched, the conditions looked perfect, with slight chop and light winds.

Found a decent lump and decided to try a bit of drifting.  Within 2 minutes, Mark landed a 30cm or so skippy.  10 minutes later, Mark landed another decent skippy!

Seeing the size of his second skippy, I threw out a smaller setup to join in! Can't let the big fella have all the fun! Lol

Bang! 3 large skippies in a row!  Awesome fun on light gear.

Next thing, my old trusty Shakespeare combo started peeling line.  The initial though was a small pink or dhu.  When it neared the surface, I thought it was a tailor coz of the elongated shape.  Nopes! It was a big KG! Measured a touch over 51cm! My PB KG! Stoked!

After this, a nice Blackarse was also landed.

Conditions were getting fken choppy at this stage.  We continued for another hour or so with no more bites.  Decided to call it a night.

Another good trip with a few days worth of feed.  Not huge fish which we were aiming for but decent bag I reckon.

Yep, was a very nice size KG!

Mark's words were quite "colourful" when I brought the KG onboard. Lol

Dylan, we've had a few PBs so far this month.  I think next time, it'll be the Senior's turn... haha

Night fish

Tue, 2017-04-11 20:18

you guys did well to get a keeper, went out from hillarys last night for a donut in the keeper dept fish wise, did get a big cray on the line though. Spoke to a few people back at the ramp who had no joy either, the sounder was very quiet all night too and that usually has good showings.

Marineboy, our sounder was showing heaps of "bottom" fish all night but nothing big seems to be interested in our baits.  At least you got a cray for lunchy!

Diggedy, I almost forgot how much fun it was/is catching skippy on light gear, until that night.  Hence why 2 new "finesse" reels are on the way!

Pflueger Salt Finesse

Thu, 2017-04-13 17:44

 Awesome!

I bought 2 of the new Pflueger Salt Finesse series, 35x and 40x sizes.  On special at BCF for $89 which is half normal price even online! If they're as good as the normal Salt range, I'll be very happy!
