Mitchell Reels

Any experts on here who know a thing or two about Mitchell Reels as in what they are/could be worth. Got one in good condition right hand 489 with a serial number on the reel foot 1273. The other excellent condition 489 Garcia left hand model with papers and box with a serial number on the reel foot D269109.

I don't think it will be worth much mate (the Mitchell) in saying that my best mate has had 1 about 25 years and swears by it they are tough old reels I wood say get it serviced and keep it, well that's what I would do

Already in perfect working condition! Have heard off a couple of different people that some(Rare,1st editions or still with the box) can be worth some money to collectors, this is only two of 4 I have.

First one is a 489 as you said but the other one is a 498 which is the left hand version of the 499---uses a roller and no bail arm.

Jim Head over in Westminster is a gun on Mitchell reels, not sure of his other details but he runs sort of a fishing gear museum.

For prices have a look on EBAY, there are usually some for sale on there.
