I was all pumped for my first metro fish this year. Got the rods all rigged up Saturday night, keen as for Monday. Got the call from my worker about 10 am Sunday saying he has twisted his ankle and can't work for me tomorrow
I went out yesterday as well, was at Hillarys about 4pm, trolled some lures along the 3 mile from Hillarys to Mindarie for zero, headed to a spot in 28m and settled in and set the anchor. Current was ripping from north to south, was hard to hold bottom on anchor with 4oz lead. Berleyed hard and scored 2 undersize dhu and about 30 pinks between 40 and 45cm. Pinks came on as the sun went down and would only take bonito as bait. Once I went to bonito on both top and bottom hook I could double header them no problem! ha ha. Once the usual stingray fight was over and the flying saucer cut free I headed in about 9pm.
Conditions were awesome with very little wind or chop but the current made it hard I think. The wind was blowing from south or south east and the boat was sitting east west on the anchor such was the current.
We went out behind GI and all my spots in the 30s weren't holding any fish. Went deeper for a queen in but that was all she wrote. Managed to get a sharkie from a bust up on the way out though which was pretty awesome otherwise the fishing was calmer than the weather.

The following is a transcript of a phone call between a very enthusiastic employee and his boss a few hours ago...
Me: Hi mate, hows things?
Boss: Good, whats up?
Me: Will there be many orders for Monday deliveries?
Boss: Not at this stage, why??
Me: Weather will be awesome and I would like the day off for fishing!
Boss: Yeah, no probs with that. Just remember to take pics like last time.
End of phone call... Hahaha!
Harry, if you're reading this, do you reckon Steve is an awesome boss?!!! Lol

I bet you don't work for rio or BHb. Bosses like you have are very few and far between.

Does the chance of a thunderstorm put people off even tho the afternoon wind forecast is still looking reasonable ?
I like the idea of staying around the FFB and chasing mackies in case the weather turns.

Great conditions apart from rain
The forecast seems pretty good actually. Low winds, seas and swell. Only negative is rain but I don't mind getting a bit wet.
Oh well, will brave the rain so you gents can see some pics of decent fish....I hope! Lol

Not a bad day!
Not a bad day at OR today. Water was nice, no rain or storms!
Taken at about 10:30am:
57cm Baldie
Total bag for the day: 2 Baldies (52cm and 57cm), some blue mackerals, a 55cm Dhuie and a couple of skippy.
Couple of weeks ago, we did well at this spot. Same again today. Lol
Caught and released half a dozen or so snapper....all between 45-48cm! Arghhhh!
My mates did all the damage. I caught 1 slimey/blue mackeral all day...!!

Thanks BJ. As mentioned, my score for the day was dismal! Had fun being "the net boy" for my two mates though.....

Better than sitting home watching tele though!

I did well finally
Went out off mandurah (a long way out) managed 6 pinkies (2 size) one good size black ass and a 15kg dhu.
Finally found some ground to fish out of mandurah and all done in 3 hrs.
