Whiting
If you want some whiting try on the sand banks to the left of the main jetty. Probably a couple of hundred metres away from memory. Just walk out if the tide is low enough.
For bait I used the pippi's that are in the sand. Just dig around the water line. Worked really well. That was about 12 years ago however.
I did then the best that I knew how. When I knew better, I did better.

Last time we were up there,
Last time we were up there, which was at Christmas time about 10 years or so ago, we did well for whiting and bar tail flathead in the lagoon on the left of the main drag out of Denham to Monkey Mia. As per Bradz, we used the pippi's that were in the sand, just dug them out by hand.

Just cruised back from Karratha
after leaving to come back to mandurah in July. Had a few days in Monkey Mia just relaxing.
For that we had great fun, and a feed or 3, from whiting, both Sandies (bigger than here!!!) and YFin. Just grab a chair and plonk yourself just to the Right of the main jetty (I suspect bradz have the direction confused, as the dolphin feeding is to the left). We fished about half way to the sand spit you will see. Other were fishing the spit aswell and also did well there, but we didnt want to fish hardcore. The channel is pretty deep out there with a good cast, but then we caught all sort off shit fish. The whiting as usual was only about 5m or less from shore. Almost a skill to cast THAT short.
All we had driving back was 2 flickies, but I suspect that at night time a good cast with a live whiting (or dead one) into that deep water could see you onto something decent. We must have caught at least 50 between the Mrs and myself, kept enough for a little feed and played C&R with the rest, all to relax.
The word from the locals was that yes its good, but you should be back in summer, and fish this spot.
Another spot recommended was walking further left, past the resort towards the Pearl Farm for about 2k's, and fish there. Not so smashed by fishos, but we couldnt be shagged carting fishing gear and an esky with cold beers that far.
Away from Mia there obviously is heaps off little spots, with fish from whiting to bigger available, but as mentioned limited with our gear we had.
Good luck, and even though whiting is not a rod bender, they make up for that on the tooth. And fishing is fishing!!
Edit: I used plastic bloodworm in red, Mrs used bought sandworms, squid and prawn, and yes pipis if we found them.

Definitely left
Nup, not confused. I was definitely to the left (West) of the main jetty, but perhaps it was more than a few hundred metres. Maybe 400m.

For some reason couldnt add another edit
But when you release the whiting, be very careful of Mr Percival the friendly (not) pelican, who has become an expert at catching the released fish. Also Holyfin also "begs" right at the beach for a whiting, but dont feed her.
We where there for 5 days, fished 4 days, and the above post of mine sounds like 50 whiting over that time, but not. About that many in 2-3hrs each every time we went. Fun with the bigger ones, and it always feels good releasing fish.

I fished approx one an a half
I fished approx one an a half km denham side of Monkey Mia and caught some good fish. Small sharks, very large bream, flathead, shovel nose sharks. If you have a 4wd there is a track right down to the beach. Good luck!!!

There are plenty of flathead around the sand spit to the right of the jetty. Heaps of fun to be had flicking lures around for them.

Thanks to everyone's advice
Thanks to everyone's advice , good to here everyone's experiences.
We fished just on the right side of the second small jetty In the deep and shallow waters.
Plenty of very small whitting to small to not release - also fished evening and high tide using squid ,muile and lures
To many blowies and trumpet fish to keep the bait on the hook long enough for a chance
Great place to fish but can't help thinking with so many groups of dolphins patrolling the beach every 15mins , any fish on a dolphins menu would not hang around - maybe when the dolphins are not so frequent it's a better time to fish.

Sharks
If you want some excitement, fish baits, wire traces and fish in the nightime expect sharks everywhere.

If you have access to a boat
If you have access to a boat just head towards the island to the east and fish the channels. They have given us very nice fish, big cod pinks at the right time of year and lots of blue line(black snapper) emperor. Beach fishing I can't help you within sorry
