Mulloway!!
5 of us went fishing on saturday night out to hunt the illusive mulloway. There have been many hours spent trying and trying as is the case for most people who are in the hunt for the big one! Got onto a beach about 45 minutes north of perth at around 4:30, set up with a little fire and 5 rods in the water. After a few hours of catching not much besides a few small shovel noses and port jacksons my mates rod started peeling line. After a good 20 minute fight with some tell tale head shakes the big silver beast sparkled in the waves and after a frantic 5 minutes of getting it on the beach the celbrations started with hugs, high fives and yahhooss flying everywhere! Nothing else was caught after but stoked i could be apart of the action!

Can't top that feeling
Great fish. I know how you feel, finally got my big metro mulloway last week. Feels like a huge boulder have been lifted off my shoulders, after years of sifting though countless number of rays and sharks thinking this has to be the one.
Finally can give up the chase.....can't go through the amount of hours and disappointment again.
Bet you are gonna be talking about it for years:)

Old school trick that one.
Old school trick that one.
Theory being that the mulloway prefer to swallow their prey head first so they don't get spiked.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

That wont happen. Fish like that are locked away in memory for ever. Not a Mulla chaser, but I still remember the feeling of catching a relative soapy of 5kg in the river upstream in Kalbarri. Despite not chasing them it was a special feeling. I think it must be that silver. If it was gold it would be called goldfever.
