my second mulloway thats 2 from 2 trips.

hey guys just sharing my excitement of reaching another goal while fishing for mulloway last night. with the swell up and weed all over the beaches i decided that beach fishing wasnt going to be nice so went to a merto rockwall and tried for another mulla. at 8;30 i finaly heard the reel screaming and my poor little baitrunner 4500 loosing line fast, i lifted it out of the holder and turned the handle to set the drag and lent back, then it took off easily stripping 100m of line off the reel and my glow stick moving the fastest ive ever seen it and then dissapeared as the fish dove down. after about 10mins of climbing back and forth over rocks the fish finaly surfaced and was huge in the torch light, i slowly edged it closer to the rocks and the guy next to me was trying to gaff it i yelled at him not to as it wasnt done and sure enough it took off again. another 10 mins later and this time it was laying on its side and i finaly bent over and gaffed it and brought it up i was amazed at how big it was. not a bad effort for a 6-8kg rod and 30lb line (of course the big fish had to grab my light rod) it was 1.2m long and weighed 20kg and is my second mulloway in 2 weeks and 2 trips chasing them. glad the hard work and research is finaly paying off.

Yeah young yakker I was going

Thu, 2011-03-31 21:42

Yeah young yakker I was going to but I want a set of jewels just to keep and the first one tasted so good. The rock wall is hard for catch and release so I'll leave the rock wall for when the freezer is empty. I know it's lucky and prob won't get another for ages but I'm so happy to get my goal of a fish over 18

both of the fish ive caught

Sun, 2011-04-03 18:17

both of the fish ive caught have been from north of the river do loads of research through old posts it dosent take long to notice a pattern as to when is best to fish regarding moons and tides. also berley and fresh bait are another good start. grot for your information my 15kg set of scales was way bottomed out and had to go to a mates and get his larger set it weighed 20kg spot on no lying needed. why is it that mulloway catches always recieve criticism???

well i myself weighed the

well i myself weighed the fish and its as stated above 20kg. mulloway always seem to be a very debatable fish that always draw alot on negative comments. i know the truth and to me thats all that matters.

well done Chris. nice fish for sure. the second fish shows its true size and i would say from one i caught around the same size it would be the 20kg you say it is. forget about the sceptics.now you just need the hattrick

Fantastic fish regardless,

Mon, 2011-04-04 11:10

Fantastic fish regardless, but having caught more than a few i have to agree, 20 kg seems not right judging by the pic.

That still doesn't take away the fact you caught a ripper, and your second in only two outings, thats an awesome feat.

Forget the weight issue, throw away them scales and just enjoy your awesome fish that makes the rest of us envy you!
