My trion rod let e down today....

So I was up under the ascot bridge on the esplanade jetty, fishing at 5am when I got a nice 30cm bream....yay!!...put line back in water an sat down then 10 seconds later something hit it an refused to be caught.bending the rod near double.

I was about to cut line when it snapped an I saw a large splash across other bank.

There be big fish in dat dare river :(

Edit I forgot to add, it cost me a 30$ lure..

Cut it off?

Tassy, save yourself the heart ache and never go fishing up north. Lots of fish up there that refuse to be caught!

Yer I cut it because I read

Tue, 2015-02-10 20:38

Yer I went to cut it because I read a lot of stories saying the trion will snap easy. Using a 2-4kg rod something out gunned me this morning... Gonna take my big rod back n get ths bugger tomorrow lol.

I had drag cranked up to max, that may well have been the culprit, but it appended so fast.... I know bream don't have that power, an it wasn't a shark. Was to shallow so I'd have seen it.

Yer ? First one I got from

Yer ? First one I got from any real size was the 30 cm before it happened. It didn't fight as hard as that. Possibly I just got unlucky but if it lives round there I'll get it :). Will make sure my drag isn't so high this time.

Unlucky, at least you know

Unlucky, at least you know what happened now.  No need to cut your line when onto a fish, kinda defeats the purpose of fishing.

Good luck

You also don't want to be

You also don't want to be pulling back on any rod so it is nearly doubled over.

Use your angling skills and never raise the rod much over 45 degrees.

Said it was 2-4 kg rod...

Wed, 2015-02-11 10:17

...was your line in that range? And you didn't say if it was braid or mono. 15lb, or even 10lb braid (no stretch /usually breaks far beyond stated breaking strain) combined with a locked-up drag, PLUS poor angle of rod means bad result for rod.

What did you hook it on?

What did you hook it on? Also don't cut off a fish, if it's too big it will snap you off

Ok to answer Questions sorry

Ok to answer Questions sorry (been at work)... I know not to pull back on a light rod to hard, common sence will tell anyone that :)..

I was using 6-8 pound leader (Id have to go out to shed to double check) an its 38 deg.... with with 4 pound braid.... I think. Again  I'd have to check but I think so. 2-4 kg rod

http://www.tackledirect.com/pflueger-trisp6630l2cbo-trion-spinning-combo.html pretty sure this is one.

After reading reviews an peoples complaints here I didnt wanna risk it. couple guys said their rods jsut "popped" for little reason an its bills month so no risks for me :p....
