i find sometimes fireline is a little stiff and springy .. i refuse to use fused lines nowdays as they also cast badly into stiff winds if its not wound back on under pressure (wind knots)

jmo .. but id be buying a woven braid .. something like nitlon , frog , sunline .. the list goes on and on

Sounds like it may be over filled or not packed on tight enough.

If your line is twisted, trolling it behind the boat sorts it out in a few minutes. Don't go too fast and just let out the line with no swivels or anything on. Haven't figured out a way to untwist it on land yet.

Line slipping

Sun, 2011-04-24 07:38

Sounds to me like the line isn't gripping on the inside of the spool, did you put a couple of wraps of mono on first? I've had 10 fireline on my 2500 stradic for the last 12 months and its been brilliant, queenies, GT's, bream, tailor, salmon..... no problems.

Untwist on land...

Sun, 2011-04-24 07:40

...try to find a bridge over water where there is tidal movement. I KNOW the two bridges in Mandurah are like this, and assuming that the one in Freo is the same. Possibly Canning bridge as well. Even some of the jetties that poke out into the river may work. Anywhere the water is moving and you can feed your line out into it and allow it to "untwist" off the spool. Obviously do this at times other than slack tide!
