Need to work on trailer ....where can I put the boat ???
Submitted by Krusty on Sat, 2016-03-26 17:50
Hi everyone,
I need to do some work on my trailer and I need the boat off the trailer while I do this.
There is no way I can remove the boat at home and was wondering what people do when they are in this situation ?
It will take me the best part of a day to do the work I need to do so need somewhere to "store" the boat for a day !!
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve.

Are you Nth or Sth of the river
When had to do some work on my trailer I went and asked the local marina if I could use a per for less than 24 hrs they let me have it for a super cheap rate. I live at Falcon if you live near a marina you may have some luck trying the same thing.

Mandurah ocean marina is about 90 bucks per day, if you pay by the day.

Bit of a hike but might be worth it. I did mine at hillarys and tied up to the walkway so it wasn't in anyone's way. Just make sure you have exactly the right tools and probably 2 of some. I had my rubber mallet break the head off on the first hit removing the trailer bunks!!!! Could have been worse, the guy next to me had dropped his keys in the water so his keys wouldn't start the car!
Also, don't forget the bung. Since it isn't a normal outing you can forget the simple things....Murphy and all that!

Yea that's a bit far really
Yea that's a bit far really but good suggestions there about taking more than I think I will need. It should be a simple straight forward job but we all know how those "simple" jobs turn out at times.
Thanks.

Cheers for the offer there mate but should be all good.
I will be in contact with you in a couple of months or so (when I save some coin) to chat about putting a hard top on my boat if that is something you would do ?
Been watching your projects and they look great....keep up the good work.
Cheers,
Steve

Trailer repair
Hi Krusty
If you haven't sorted this yet, I have a boat lifting device that can handle up to about a 23 foot boat, 24 at a push. It lifts the boat off the trailer and you then pull the trailer out and drop it back again when you are ready. I am North of the river

Thanks for that Eric, my boat is a cat though so not sure if that would work ?
Anyway, I am hopefully heading down to the ramp tomorrow and floating the boat off and doing the necessary work in the ramps carpark.
Cheers for your offer anyway and if I run into trouble I could be in contact.

I have the same problem. The hump in the middle of the trailer makes it a very difficult lift.
I used Mindarie a few weeks ago, just tied up to the wall along the shopfronts, and did the work in the carpark.
