New 4wd tyres

Just wondering if anyone has any good reccomendations for new fourby tyres for the patrol. Got cooper st's at the moment but was thinking of going for a more road oriented trye such as the AT. Given all of my driving is highway and beach I was thinking road oriented made more sense Quieter and better fuel, anyone got any other suggestions/stuff that they like. I had BFG's AT on last 4wd and were happy with them but I did a lot more dirt and mud driving then.

I've got Pirelli Scorpions AT on the Jackaroo.  They do the job well.  Mainly beach and black top.

I had scorpions and found

I had scorpions and found that they wore down very fast. 50 k a set.

I have GT Radials on now, slightly cheaper but come with a lifetime warranty. They are quiet and go ok in light mud and sand.

wrong tyre!

Thu, 2007-11-22 10:39

When i was buying my set i spoke to Lincoln (owner of Tyrepower around the corner) he said people have issues with tyres including all brands when they have "selected wrong" or been "supplied the wrong" re the TYPE of tyre. This is where issues arise and that's why he asked me heaps of questions ie what/where/why before recomending my tyres. (Having the correct tyre is paramount)

100,000 Gaurantee.....nice

Warrantee only valid if you

Thu, 2007-11-22 20:44

Warrantee only valid if you get a wheel alignment/balance and rotation at an authorised coopers dealer every 10,000km. That puts a lot of extra cost on to that warrantee.

no tyre will last 100000

Thu, 2007-11-22 20:52

no tyre will last 100000 klm's IMO, particularly the way you drive Ryan.... .

The 'warranty' probably is against manufacturing faults only, as is often the case with these type purchases.

Good, mid priced tyre though.

they all should!

The 100K well 90k to be exact is still better than the 30k plus gaurantee of other models.

The warranty does mean a R&B but thats at trade of $20-25 and with the new equal balancing with the Coopers that's all you really need. All tyres regardless should be R&B anyway imo!

$20-25 evey 10,000 is peace of mind nowing i'm getting the best out of the tyre and a small price to pay when you weigh up tyres & general; car servicing cost etc!

Roadstone has been the go for me!

Fri, 2007-11-23 09:31

Roadstone AT tyres have been the go for me on the 4x4! I have had them on two 4x4 so far and they are brilliant. Purchased them from peel tyres in mandurah and when you buy a set of 4 tyres you get a free rotation and balance every 10,000 kms for the life of the tyres and they also give youy a gaurantee of 80,000 km on the roadstones as well. Plus they are by far cheaper than coopers!
