New Boat - New Gear

I'm about to pick up a new Bar Crusher 780 HT. In the package I have selected a Furuno 587 sounder with 1 kw transducer and a Lowrance HDS12M with Platinum chart Aussie wide. To round it out Lowrance 4G Radar. Appreciate any comment positive or negative - I still have time to change on the electronic selections.

i would
ditch the pinging radar and upgrade the 587 to a 295.
what do you need a radar for?
either will be great for sure!
but that's jmo.

I've been doing some checking around and getting mixed messages on the 295. Commentary ranges from them being unsuitable for trailer size craft to being the best but the transducers are absolute dimensional monsters to being the best of the best. Ill keep looking for the moment.

I agree lose the radar and upgrade the sounder that way you can find your own spots, lol, nothing wrong with the 587 and 1 kW though, definately be a nice rig

If worried about being run down by much larger boats fit an AIS for a tenth of the price.

unless your doing regular night runs swap the radar for a 295 and 2 kw transducer

Did your Bar Crusher arrive in Perth either yesterday or today at All Boat and Caravans?
If so, I'd say it shared the back of a truck with my 615C..... Happy days coming our way shortly mate :)
