hey guys. Bought a custom plate hull seems to be an assassin type so looking for a 175-200hp four stroke.
Been tossing up over the the usual ones ie Yamaha, Suzuki and Honda but have read good reviews about Merc and the new Evinrude g2 also.

Learn from the past...
Yam, Suzi and Honds have a history of excellence.
Mercs and Evinrude just have 'history'...........

Don’t go with any warranty
99 percent off warranty’s mean crap. I personally like Yamaha. Been around long time. Suzuki better on fuel and lighter. New Mercury’s up there also now days. New Honda’s also good. Get the odd dud in all. Go with gut feeling. Good luck .

Cant beat the new Merc 4 strokes. Least noise, best fuel economy, best corrosion resistance, best parts invenotry largest dealer network. A simple design with great torque. Absolute winner.

Yammy
I’m bias as I have a new yammy 4cyl 200hp. Runs beautifully, quite, fuel efficient on my 6.1 plate ally and has a good rep. I love the power of 2 strokes to get you on the plane but what do you need it for? Lots of acceleration or long cruises? If you’re skiing get a 2stroke. Personally I’m over needing 2stroke oil, and my last one was too cantankerous. At the end of the day it’s going to come down to personal preference. Good luck
