Stano, we prefer spin gear when demersal jigging up to 40lb.

Ok the four options we would pick out after all what you said would be;

Jigging Master " Ocean God " 180 Spin - 5'3 Jig 100-220g PE1.5 - 4  FW Price $379

Expert Graphite " Alexander " Spin 5'6  Jig Max 200g  PE 2-4   FW Price $349

Waves " Mare Nostrum " Shorty Spin 5'6   Jig Max 150g  PE2-3  FW Price $349

Valley Hill " Jigging Game " 6046S Spin 6'  Jig Max 150g  PE1.5-3  FW Price $319

Feel free to pop in or PM us for more info.

I find yamaga blanks a tad

Fri, 2013-08-09 18:38

I find yamaga blanks a tad overpriced....

JM not bad... it performs quite well but .... its made in china.....  and for a rod of that price point.. it just dun appeal to me.

(JM fans pls dun crucify me... haha)

well it all comes down as to whether u want a fast or parabolic rod.

For fast action rods you can consider JDM brands like the Evergreen Spin Jerker or the Tenryu JigZam( ard AUS $500-600). or if you like some thing  cheaper ( AUS $ 300+) try out the palms!  really sexy!

PALMS METAL WITCH (scroll down the page, theres spin versions):

http://www.palms.co.jp/rod/palms-elua/en/metal-witch2/

EG SPIN JERKER:

http://www.evergreen-fishing.com/goods_list/Pspj603l_02040010_2.html

Personally i like parabolic rods

Do check out the hots fake lez or the smith AMJ!

however if you want more bang for buck u can try the zerek tamers..... or major craft

another rod that I really like the Golden Mean sabel dance! or slow dancer! shldnt set u back by more than AUS 150

http://www.golden-mean.co.jp/item/salt-water/sabeldance2_k/

u can  also consider the major craft giant killing or major craft alexander!

http://www.majorcraft.co.jp/

u can order all these rods online with relative ease...

check out plat.co.jp

gd luck!

I would look into the demon

Mon, 2013-08-12 19:48

I would look into the demon blood a bit more. I have the 64cj and rate it. At 6"4' it's almost a foot longer than some of the above mentioned rods and personally, a 5"3' rod doesn't appeal to me at all - just too short. Just my preference and opinion.

it all depends on your fish

Mon, 2013-08-19 16:04

it all depends on your fish size and type of jig!

honestly shorter rods would make the fight faster and easier!

however longer rods can impart more  distance to the jig for the same distance moved by your arm!

shorter rods would have more recovery/responsiveness thus they would impart a stronger dart to your jig

for your jig weight u'll be

Mon, 2013-08-19 16:16

for your jig weight u'll be looking at either a PE1-3 or PE2-4 rod! not exactly considered light jigging!

guess you'll be targeting fish from 3kg-10++kg

I would go for a rod that is slightly under 6!

but then again it depends your jigging style!

if you are normal/speed jigging for kings or sambos a rod under 6 would be ideal!!

however if you are solely  intending to work long fall jigs like the Damiki backdrop i would go for a rod that is 7'8''. that way u can enhance the sliding action of the jig as it falls, makes for very effiecient jigging too as with one sweep of your rod, your jig would move at least 3-5 m upwards! thats almost the entire bottom section of the water column! (LONG FALL JERK!)

Tue, 2013-08-20 13:16

Im jigging caprices, haolis, lightens, duel tamikis for demersals, 90 to 130 -150 grams, in 40 mtrs, slow retrieve across bottom, then quick retrieve through mid water column for pelagics, i have looked at the above japaanese rods, and they seem a little light ? Im just little confused now, might head down to occoner to get a feel befor i buy something so  i dont buy something thats not designed for my needs.....

sorry for the confusion!

hahha actually the japanese rods would do fine! just get one that is about PE 2-4

more than enough!

i would go for rods made in japan any day over other rods

check out the basic series~~

http://www.majorcraft.co.jp/english/catalogue/brand.jsp?mode=cover/alexander

the Giant killing would do fine too!

 NO WAIT!!DONT GET THE EUPRO

Fri, 2013-08-23 09:00

 NO WAIT!!

DONT GET THE EUPRO GIANT KING!!!!

EUPRO is a brand notorious for ripping of the designs of other rods and producing lousy quality imitations!!

if u want, get the major craft giant killing! you'll get better results and respect from anglers! :)

Eupro Giant King

Sat, 2013-08-24 14:44

Yep, We stock them mate, A very good rod at a very good price! May be a touch light for your reel but feel free to drop past with your reel and make your own decision. We have been stocking this rod for over 12 months and never had a return on them. They always recieve high praise on FW and surrounding media. Eupro has also just released another model as Chrisp suggested thats called the Offshore fighter. We have these aswell instock and might be worth you checking out.

We are open 7 days a week so drop past when you can.

Cheers

What reel?

Sun, 2013-08-25 11:20

Awesome il be heading down to oceanside to  put together a combo!! Any of the rods u have suggested should b fine, the giant killing, alexander or valley hill, now what would you match it up with? Im a diawa man but am open to suggestions? Looking around 250 300$ mark, so thinking either diawa aird, excellor, or bat for the other team and go a shimano stradic 5000? Thoughts?
