A nice feed from Rotto

Went out to Rotto to retrieve my cray pots yesterday (after them sitting there for a month without being pulled) and have a couple of dives to try get a feed of crays. The pots had been sitting there a while as hadn't had the chance to get out to pull them. The first surprise was that they were actually where I had left them ropes covered in slime suggesting they hadnt been pulled either. 1 pot had 1 cray - even more surprising. First dive in 25m we spotted about 10 berried or tar spot with no keepers.

When we hit the surface I decided to motor out to a spot we had marked a couple months back during the ban to see how it looked. We needed to pass some time and this spot was only 10 minutes from our dive. The sounder lit up like a xmas tree so back round to the top of the drift down goes the caprice kid within 20 seconds bang nice fight and a 5kg dhui hits the surface. Back to the top of the drift same again except this time a 10kg Dhui. All done in less than 15 minutes. 2 Dhuis in the esky. My first Dhui on jig and i'm now a convert. I have toyed with them before but never been convinced - now there is no going back. Was in 35m of water.

Back to our second dive in 17m and bagged a few nice reds for the esky. Breeze was just starting to build as we made our way back to Freo, back to the ramp by 2pm then I was sitting at work by 3pm.  A great way to spend the day and a nice feed to top it all off.
