Ningaloo Station

Hi All

We have booked Ningaloo Station for a couple of weeks in September and will be staying at North Lefroy bay with our sites just next to the cut.

I have never been there before so am chasing some info on weather it will be possible to launch my 6m ali boat there?

My uncle seems to think i wont be able to get it in there however they are taking there Dodge Ram with the Taj Mahal of tray back campers in there Towing a 18ft quintrex and there is a couple a 23ft caravans being towed in with us.

Any info would be great? I have used the search function and i cant quite find the info im looking for.

I seem to remember MattMiller saying something about them taking a 7m Ali in but cant find the post it was in

Cheers Jayce

Hey Jayce

We stayed there last year, you will be able to get your boat in there however retrieval may be difficult as the beach sand can get soft. We had a 5m runabout and had no dramas though. Worse comes to worse, steam it to CB and pull it out there....

mate I launch the big boat at corals and lock the trailer up there, ms drives the car up

the track in is sheit on trailers, have a nice leisurely troll up from corals and u will most probably still beat them up
even if the road has been graded the last bit is rough, from the homestead to winderabanda pt takes a good 3 hrs if u towing even a smallish tinny, not worth it breaking springs drawbars etc, rock thrown against boat etc

launching is the easy part -the recovery is the fun

Yep easy

There's an informal rock ramp at south lefroy.

We've launched various trailer boats from there up to 7m.

Just be prepared for anything to break on the track on the way in. It's a piece of crap.

Over the years we've done springs, axels, winch posts etc.

I drove the track an New Years and in march. Big sand drifts across the track and detours on sum of it! Nothing over the top but corogated to sh$t! Took me 45 mins from the turn off to north lafroy with no boat giving it sh$t and about a hour 20 towing a 4.2 tinny. Most of the track is rock hard but pulling in to north lafroy can get a bit soft. If run all tyre pressure around 20 for the track then drop to 18 or lower if needed north of the station. Even tho the main tracks not bogy the low pressure soaks up heaps of the vibration so less stress on your car an trailer!

Thanks for the info guys.

So in theory there is no reason i cant get the boat in there.

Hows the launching there? We will have a Dodge Ram and a fairly worked patrol to use aswell. And i was planning on taking a few sheets of mesh to lay out so the trailer can go on them.

South lefroy, it's rocks all the way.

Any decent 4x4, some patience and helpful tide and you'll get in and out easily.

I have towed jet skis, campers and off-road trailers in there. As said above, the track shakes the shit out of everything so be prepared and have the gear to fix your trailer if need be.

Last year we broke a brand new spring hanger if a brand new off-road trailer and had to dodge it up then a trip into exmouth to get it all sorted for the return home.

I definitely won't bother taking my boat in on that track, not worth the hassle now !

Launch the boat in the bay by the homestead and leave the trailer there, that way its not as far as sailing it up from Coral Bay.
