not fishing related but need HELP- spilled milk through my passenger seat and car carpet.. Fargen stinks to high hell!!
Submitted by rigpig on Wed, 2015-06-17 10:01
Did a very stupid thing, a two litre bottle of milk emptied into my front passenger seat and into the floor carpet. This was on Sunday and seriously it is fargen puke material in my Patrol at the moment.. It's enough to make a skunk vomit....
Any ideas on how to clean it out..
I've had advise such as;
sprinkle milo on it
load the car with cats
drill hole in the floor and run a hose through it for HOURS...
sell the car
etc etc
any advise is appreciated...
Cheers, JJ

Carb Soda
Buy some ear plugs, they can also be used as nose plugs to block the smell out.
Get some carb soda and spread it over the affected area, leave for 3=4 hours then vacuum off and the smell should disappear.

ozone generator?
I have a mate who works on wrecked vehicles and when they had a ute that caught on fire and was rebuilt they used an ozone generator to get the smell out.

Get some Vinegar and Baking
Get some Vinegar and Baking Soda:
Pour the vinegar into a spray bottle- Spray carpet, let sit for 20mins.
Then spread baking soda around carpet-allow to sit for 24hrs.
Vacuum up.
Sour milk is acid in nature-baking soda is alkaline. The baking soda will neutralize the smell.
Ohh- park vehicle outside with windows down-let the sunshine and breeze thru.

nilodor
As said remove carpet and get it cleaned and Nilodor is good for removing stink. Have a look at the coles site and search for Nilodor - $8.24 - only needs a few drops.
This will remove/ hide smells like when the "dog" farts

Smell
i think the boys are on to it with the bi carb soda/baking powder. That removes all sorts of odours from fabric and carpet.
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

.
Put Vicks vapour rub on your upper lip, will mask the smell until it naturally goes away, milk will be deep into the foam underlay so you'll never get it all out without removing the carpet and underlay.

weekend task
I think my weekend will consist of pulling the front seats out, carpet out, pressure washing them and replacing the passanger side underlay.. The Patrol forums indicate its not to difficult but worthwhile doing..
At least this weekend the Dockers have a bye..... don't hate me for it...
cheers and thanks for the suggestions..

A couple of years ago I left
A couple of years ago I left an unopened 3l milk in my engel for 3months (September - November so it was hot) in the car with the engel turned off....There wasn't a smell until I opened the engel to get ready for a trip - the milk container was almost round, and was fizzing..... A lot of dry-reaching and hosing, bi-carb / vinegar, dishwashing detergent, windex, - pretty much anything could find, and the smell gradually went away.... But it's not carpet either....
i would suggest remove seats, carpet and underlay, then high pressure wash, or professional clean....
stick Dynamat (or a similar sound proofing product to make the car quieter) to the floor of the car before putting it all back together so you feel like you have achieved something instead of just fixing up a mess.....
