Heres a bit of a nothing of note post but i thought id share as ive got the time to write it up. A few weeks back i was preparing for a trip to kalbarri but keeping an eye on the weather i knew it wasn't gonna be a happy trip but it had been organised for 6 months so i put on a happy face and pushed on. I stopped in at shorecatch and collected some bait from the boys and some inside info along with some questionable scetches from Cullum which made perfect sense once we got there. He also showed me a simple yet mind blowing way of filleting your mullet for maximum yeild. Once we got there the weather was terrible from the first day but i pushed the yak through the slop and set about pluggin away at oyster reef with some stick baits and metals, nothing but rain and seaweed till the third arvo when i tried a 5in placcie to see if there were any mullas in the wash. Bang! Hooked a tailor that woulda gone at least 80cm that i lost at the net (fold away part wouldn't clip in) dropped another soon after and went back home to re assess. As the wind blew the whole time i decided to fish the pens on the last day, and managed a soapie and a few bream biggest went 42, on mullet strips to end the trip. Ofcourse the day we left was the best of the trip but thats the way it is. Once back home i was sooking for a few days till i noticed sundays weather had a small window so armed with some small 28g jigs i headed out to some new ground in hope of some blackass or dhuies on the larger placcies i had. First drop in a new place resulted in a 68cm dhu on a 28g jig small shimano jewel 2500 penn conquer reel and 15lb braid buried me once but patience won and he was in the chiller bag. Placcies didnt get wet the rest of the session till i lost my last jig on another good fish (played tug of war under a ledge for 5mins before the fish won) but placcies didnt get a bump. Ended the quick session with the dhu and a blackass.
