Offshore bait gathering

Just wondering if anyone has bothered dropping small sabiki's into those offshore schools which are popping up on sounder screens a fair bit at the moment. Keen to secure some fresh bait but i've never tried it myself (yet).

Any tips would be appreciated.

Yep one day dropped into a school on 10pd gear hooked one up, three cranks of the handle and I was hooked up to something for about 45 minutes. Whatever it was had no idea it was hooked it just swam around casually till the inevitable ping!

Absolutely done it successfully. Best baits if there's fish chasing the schools too.

We did it in the Exmouth gulf

We did it in the Exmouth gulf in the Billfish Bonanza a few years back....gathered heaps of live bait on sabiki... straight in the tank and then dropped a few livies down on 10kg gear under the bait schools to where the queenies, sailfish, trevors etc were

Works really well.

My decky's son works at a chain store and picked it up at staff rates. Was pretty cheap.
Should be easier having something ready to go when we see bait
