I'll tell you a great story about rust that happened just yesterday. A 30ft cat retrieved at the marina and as he got his old fibreglass boat to the top of the ramp on a 45 degree angle the chain on the front of the boat snapped. I was then witness to 30ft of boat sliding off the back of the trailer onto the ramp with the inboard almost snapping off at the back getting caught on the corrugations. Somehow it managed to keep sliding as he just had enough water at the back to get buoyancy. The rest of the boat kept sliding down the ramp and by the end of it there was about 3 foot of boat still out of the water left high and dry. Some how the engine started and he managed to get people to push it off the ramp and retreive again, only with a queue of 4 boats after him. After he got it out there were 2 huge skidmarks of paint and fibreglass down the boat lanes. I can still see it in slow motion as I write this, devastating, oh, did I mention that it is a boat available for charter too?
It was a pretty old boat to start with, but it must have done a fair bit of damage to the hull. I didn't want to go over and to get too close, to say he was in a bad mood is a bit of an understatement. ;)
Must be this time of the month, was down the boat ramp the other day when i was taking my mum for cruz, firstly i just backed our boat in the water and was undoing everything when all of a sudden a bloke reversing down the ramp through his boat on the concrete and it stopped about 2mtrs away from our boat and car, then he got out laughing and said "oh shit shouldn of undone the winch and shackles yet"i just replied with a you bloody dickhead.
sat arvo on the same ramp at the Ex Marina I saw some crew drive their 8 or 9m cat up onto the trailor, the boat stopped about 4 inches from the winch. the guy at the winch said "just another 6 inches" the driver seemed pretty keen cos he drove the boat up the trailor to the end and then kept pushing. I swear the 4x4 towing the trailor skidded over a metre up the ramp, bouncing and sliding everywhere. the guy driving cracked the sh!ts cos he reckons the guy said another metre and the guy on the ramp cracked the sh!ts cos he thought he was going to get flattened.
the best i seen was down at saftey bay ramp whre these guys in bad weather decided to drive their bot on after snapping the cable. all well and good. drove up with such speed he snappped the bar that comes up to stop the boat going any further and put the nose of the boat into the tray of the ute. as this wasnt enough they forgot the park brake and the car rolled back so drop kick in the boat thught i know ill just power on the motor. it all ended in tears and histarical laughter.

Fibreglass and concrete
Fibreglass and concrete don't go together well, how did the boat look once he got it out of the water?

Dramas
Saw a bloke roll his dinghy off his trailer out the front of the bottleshop on Saturday. It looked like he did a fair bit of damage to the motor.
