Outboard cowling

Gday all i got a 2012 yammie 225hp 4 stroke and the old lift the motor to high trick has happened pushed it into the baitboard and put a big crack into it and just wondering if they can be repaired or do i got to fork out thousands for a new one.

Can vouch for the thousands
Can vouch for the thousands that they cost reversed mine too far back and hit the garage timber and cracked the cowling. Called up $2300 for a new one on my f150. Rather pay the $500 excess. Or leave it the way it is

Where are you located?
If the crack is structural repair it with fibreglass and spray it. If you have the skills you can DIY and cowl cover it. If you want a pro job Ben at Fibrelite in Hilton does a really good job, decals are expensive also so again recommend a cowl cover.

I got a cowl cover
I got a cover but still wouldnt mind getting it repaired , unfortunately i live up north so will have to wait until im next down south or try insurance .

You can also get a tilt limiter switch
To control how far up the motor comes to prevent this happening again in the future.

Some motors have a limit on
Some motors have a limit on the tilt ram. Switched on mechanic will be all over it.
